China's Food Export & Import Up Slowly in Jan-Oct 2014 (Summary)

According to China customs statistics, for January-October, China's food export and import total CNY 816.81 Billion, up 7% YOY. Therein, the export value is 299 billion yuan, up 4% YOY; the import value 517.81 billion yuan, up 8.8% YOY.

Main Causes of Food Export-Import Situations:

(1) China-ASEAN Free Trade Area boosted the exports to ASEAN;

(2) International grain price fall dragged down the import value;

(3) Domestic edible vegetable oil stock are at historically high, suppressing the import.

Considerable Problem:

Import food safety control is more pressing.
